Live Edge Spalted Maple Candle & Plant Propagation Centerpiece | 14" Handmade Wood Decor

Natural spalting, a preserved live edge, soft candlelight, and living greenery come together in this handcrafted spalted hard maple candle and plant propagation centerpiece, individually made in the Little Forest Studio workshop.

This one-of-a-kind piece begins with a hand-selected slab of spalted hard maple from the Lancaster, Pennsylvania region. The dark lines and intricate patterns running through the maple are created naturally within the wood, giving this particular piece a character that cannot be duplicated.

I shaped and finished the slab while preserving its natural live-edge form, then incorporated three frosted glass candle cups and a glass plant propagation tube into the design. The result is a compact 14-inch centerpiece that combines figured hardwood, candlelight, and a small plant cutting in a single display.

Because the spalting, grain, and live edge are all naturally formed, this is an individual piece rather than a uniform mass-produced design.

Nature Did Part of the Design

The dark lines and patterns characteristic of spalted maple were created naturally before the wood ever reached my workshop. Rather than covering those markings, I built the centerpiece around them and preserved the live edge so the original character of the slab remains visible.

Designed for a nightstand, windowsill, coffee table, console, mantel, or shelf, it works as natural wood decor with or without a plant cutting in the propagation tube.

Safety: Battery-operated LED tea lights are included and recommended, particularly when plant material is displayed in the propagation tube. Avoid open flames near plants or other combustible materials.
