Our Story
Made by Hand. Built with Character.
Little Forest Studio is my small woodworking studio in Southern New Jersey, where I design and build handcrafted footstools, storage ottomans, and a collection of other handmade pieces for the home.
Every piece starts here in my workshop. From selecting and milling the wood to building the frame, finishing the wood, upholstering the cushion, and completing the final assembly, I enjoy being involved in the entire process.
There isn't an assembly line behind Little Forest Studio. When you purchase one of my pieces, you're getting something that was made by hand, one at a time.

Where It Started

My interest in woodworking goes back to when I was about seven years old, when my grandfather first introduced me to working with wood.
Around that time, he made a small hammer for me. I still have that hammer today, and more than 50 years later, it remains one of the tools I regularly use in my workshop. In fact, I still use it while making the footstools you see here at Little Forest Studio.
It's a simple tool, but for me it represents where all of this started. What my grandfather taught me as a child stayed with me, and over the years I've continued building, learning new techniques, and developing new skills.
Little Forest Studio is a continuation of something that began at that workbench many years ago.
The hammer my grandfather made for me when I was seven. I still use it in the workshop today.
How I Build Today
Although the tools have changed since I first became interested in woodworking, the basic idea hasn't.
Build it carefully. Use good materials. Pay attention to the details.
My workshop combines traditional woodworking with modern tools and techniques. Depending on the piece, that can mean woodworking, CNC carving, finishing, upholstery, or even hand-forged metal details made right here in my workshop.

That combination gives me the freedom to make pieces that are functional without making them ordinary.
What Little Forest Studio Is Becoming
Today, footstools and storage ottomans are at the heart of Little Forest Studio.
Some are simple and understated. Others use bold fabrics, unusual textures and details that give them a little more personality. I'm also developing storage designs that make a small piece of furniture useful in more than one way.
Alongside them, I occasionally make other woodworking and home pieces when I find a design or material that I think is worth turning into something special.
I'm not interested in making thousands of identical pieces.
I'd rather make things with a little character.

Made in New Jersey
Every Little Forest Studio piece is made in my Southern New Jersey workshop.
When you order from Little Forest Studio, you're supporting a small independent maker and buying something that has passed through my hands from the beginning of the build to the finished piece.
That's something I'm proud to put my name on.
